WELCOME
Using the same forms of expression related to the ones from the
Naked Island, the most brutal prison of the former Yugoslavia, its
primary role is reinterpreted. The used words belong to late General Jovan Kapičić from the interview he gave to the magazine Globus in 2008, in which he describes the Naked Island prison.
The sound of recorded island grasshoppers is trapped beneath a box taken from the island, while leaflets with statements from
Kapicic’s interviews hide the horrible truth and lure the viewer to visit “promised” Croatian island. What stands for Welcome and what for Samantha Fox? Verbal delict?
